A Research on Moving Human Body Detection Based on the Depth Images of Kinect

Moving human body detection is a significant research direction in the fields of image processing and computer vision. A new method of moving human body detection is proposed in this paper based on Kinect, which extracts depth images with Kinect, so that the moving object in which people are interested can be obtained without useless background information. Five consecutive frames of depth images are used to operate the calculation of three-frame differencing twice, which is called dual-three-frame differencing algorithm in this paper. Then combined with improved Sobel operator based on four directions, the full edge of moving human body can be obtained. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is simply to operate, easy to implement, and can get the whole moving human body without morphological processing.
